Scout Dutch Oven Showdown
This will be a 2 pot cook-off with prizes and awards for the winners. It will be held on Saturday, Cook-Meeting 9:45 am.
Main Dish Judged 12:15pm
Dessert Judged 1 pm
General rules are:
1-Participants must be registered with Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Campfire, or a Church/ Civic organization.
2- The youth must cook-Not the Leaders. We will require that the Leaders stay out of the cooking areas and supervise from the side. We will set an age limit on this requirement as Leaders may need to assist younger teams.
3 - Hand washing stations are required.
4- Keep Hot Food Hot and Cold Food Cold.
5- No packaged food recipes - We will allow cake mixes, box mixes, can vegetables, etc but they must be combined in the total recipe. The recipe can NOT just be ...Hamburger Helper, Duncan Hines Brownies, or a Heat & Serve dish.
***Extra Points will be given for team work, neatness, cleanliness, and interaction with the crowd.
Registration is $15/troop which includes the youth and 2 adult leaders. Troops may split into multiple teams. Camping is available in the park. Please indicate that you will camp with us. We have group sites with restrooms/shower houses reserved especially for the troops so reservations can be made by contacting Lesley Tennessen dutchovendiva@yahoo.com.
The Boy Scout camp has hiking trails, canoe is permissible. Nearby is Illinois Beach State Park with many facilities ranging from hiking, nature trails, camping, and RV hookups.
